Great piece. I agree with you 100% as I've experienced this first hand.

My church was this, until we began to partner with a local recovery mission and started accepting addicts, ex-gang members, and the like into our congregation and discipled them as new believers.

This has radically changed my church and it's culture from a country club for Christians to a battle ground for Christ!
