Daily Devotion — What To Do When Life Is Difficult
Do you ever find yourself squeezing your eyes shut wondering if they might just pop out? Or clenching your hands so tight it leaves indentations on your palms? All the while — wishing things were another way? When life is difficult, we need to know what to do. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Life is difficult, unpredictable and quite honestly painful at times.
Knowing what we will do first when life is difficult, when the pain feels like it will devour us whole, is imperative to persevering well through life’s trials. Will we pull up our bootstraps and get moving, turn to friends, seek wise counsel, or draw up the covers over our heads? The best time to learn what to do is not when you find yourself in a hard place. For many of us, the most painful circumstances will involve our children. We can become unglued trying to fight for justice, take away their pain, or somehow make life go back to what we had expected or planned. Like many other mom warriors when my child is hurting I jump in with both feet, searching, seeking, and planning for the best possible outcome.
