“Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7 NIV

We often hear people quote this verse, but many times the way in which it is quoted is not exactly the way Jesus intended. We hear, “Ok God, where is my new car? I asked for it…where is it?” or “I asked for lots of money, but I’m still broke.”

Full Understanding of this Verse

It took me awhile to come to a full understanding of this verse myself, although I have always believed it, because it comes from the Word and the Word is TRUTH. The Lord loves us. He wants to give us “exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20

This is a promise that He, the Lord our God, creator of the universe, has made His children. But, we must be in a relationship with Him, we have to allow Him to do His work in us. Not only should we be led by the Holy Spirit, but we must also let our life become a life in Christ Jesus.

If you look back at Matthew chapter 6, verse 33, it says, “Seek ye the kingdom and all His righteousness and these things will be added unto you.”

Fill yourself with the Holy Spirit, read His word daily, and pray about everything. Talk to Him about all that you have going on, talk to Him about your fears, your doubts, talk to Him as if you were talking to your best friend…
