She came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. — Luke 8:45 NIV
This woman had been ill for 12 years. Most of us wouldn’t make it six months, let alone 12 weeks before we’d take drastic measures. So she’s 12 years in. Think about that. She had faith but hadn’t received her healing yet.
When you’re sick and it’s been hard to recover, you start looking around for other remedies, becoming open to non-conventional options you might not have previously considered. We all get sick. It might not be the cough and sneeze sick, so much as you’re tired of the man/woman who can’t be consistent or truthful. When you’re sick of going to a toxic work environment every day you start applying, interviewing, networking your tail off or start a company.
You have faith, but now you do something with it. You increase your effort. You R.E.A.C.H. further than ever before.
- Regular
- Effort
- Ain’t

- Here
Go back and remember what this woman did. She heard about Jesus, believed, and showed up to see Him. She pressed through a crowd of people and “touched the edge of His cloak”.
That’s more effort than some herbs and tea or hitting the local pharmacy. A REACH culminated by extending her hand.
Just the edge of the cloak is all she needed. Her faith was so big. She was so tired of being sick, she decided it was time to reach.
If you’re going to grasp it, then you’re going to have to grow to it.
It’s like seeing an advertisement for one of the items you love on sale. There’s an insane sale on that thing. I mean Black Friday price on a Wednesday in April type of deal on some lipstick or cologne you really love. But, when you get to the store the shelves look empty. That is until you look up and spy some in the back. So you step on the bottom shelf and reach to the back for it.
Getting over “there” to claim what you want takes more effort than what is keeping you in the here and now.
If you’re sick of something in life and ready to receive your deliverance, it’s time to R.E.A.C.H.
