And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. — Genesis 1 : 26 KJV
Feeling Ordinary
I used to struggle with who I was. I always felt that I was just an ordinary person who would always live an ordinary life. I felt there was nothing special in me, no talent, no potential, really nothing.
I still remember when I was 16 years old. Back then, a friend told me about his dream to become a successful entrepreneur and how he would buy an expensive car, would have nice houses, and other things. I admired him because he had big dreams and had a plan for his life. I didn’t even dare to have a dream of my own. I always thought I’d be an average employee. I wouldn’t be able to have my own business, because I lack leadership and wasn’t smart enough to build or manage a business. Yeah, that’s how I used to think.
Knowing the Truth
I was 18 years old when I met Jesus for the first time! I didn’t feel any change before. But after I met Him, there was a thirst and hunger for God’s presence and His words. But strangely, the more I knew about Him, the more I knew about myself.
God talked to and healed me using Genesis 1:26.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
Knowing the truth from God has set me free. I recognized my true identity and calling. I dared to dream. I dared to hope and I dared to fight.
When you find God, you also find yourself in Him. Know that God has created you to be unique and you are called to dominate your field. Fix your eyes upon Jesus, and find yourself, your worth, your true identity, and your calling.
Prayer
Jesus, open my eyes so I can see You and I can find myself in You. I don’t want to be lost anymore. I don’t want to be deceived anymore. I don’t want to feel unworthy, but I want to know Your glory and I want to know You more.
Thank You for always being faithful to me. Please be the God over my mind and my heart. Set my heart with thirst and hunger after You. Help me be faithful and fruitful in my field where You have entrusted me. Reveal my calling, everything that I should do for Your glory and help me through it all. I trust in You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
