Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NLT

Do You Struggle With Self-Worth

How much do you struggle with self-worth? It’s been a huge struggle of mine for most of my life.

As a victim of emotional abuse, I have suffered from low self-worth for decades. Maybe you have experienced neglect, harsh words, indifference or physical violence of some sort that left you bruised and beaten, all the way to your core.

Yet these self-worth bible verses in God’s Word bring me loads of comfort, and I hope they will for you as well.

Paul’s Verses to the Corinthians about Self-Worth

Paul wrote this verse to the Corinthian church, which was struggling with sexual sin. It’s not too different from our current, sex-saturated culture. In context, Paul is encouraging the Corinthian Christians to value their bodies the way God did, so they wouldn’t continue to offer them in sinful sexual behavior. These verses still have great meaning for that context.

I’m applying these bible verses to a little different context today. If you have struggled with self-worth, you may have had feelings of worthlessness before. These verses affirm your great worth in God’s eyes.

God bought you with a high price–the Father sent the Son to die for your sins, and then placed the Holy Spirit in you when you believed. He doesn’t give these treasures to someone who is worthless. No, God sees you as a priceless treasure. You are a prince or princess in his kingdom.

Believe God’s Word About Your Value

The Holy Spirit lives inside you, which means you can choose a different kind of thinking. You no longer need to be bound by the ideas, criticisms, or abuses of others. You can choose to believe what God tells you–that you have high value and priceless worth to him.

I encourage you to meditate on these verses today. Let them seep into your soul like a healing balm. God holds you in high esteem–don’t let anyone else hold you down.
